I had no idea that I would get the reaction I did from my last blog! I truly appreciate all the comments, emails, texts and anyone who told me they loved it. I hope you stay with me and take something away from it.

The first thing I need to focus on for myself, is the way I eat. I touched a little on it in the first blog saying that I love fast food. I don’t think anyone truly understands just how much. Let me let you in on a couple of things:

  1. For a of couple years, I actually thought I was going to turn into that big-headed King from Burger King.
  2. I have been known to go through the drive thru at McD’s AND Burger King because I truly believed that I was going to make a living by taste testing fries.
  3. I secretly have respect for my best friend who gets her dogs a Happy Meal.
  4. I have stolen food from kids. Not just mine, everyone’s.

This isn’t normal. But again, I never said I was normal. And if my shop ever dies out, I AM going to try to get a job taste testing fries. But at this moment in my life, with my future self slapping me straight in the forehead, I’m going to try to do better by myself. No more fast food. I repeat Megan, no more fast food.

I love to cook and I love to meal plan, so that shouldn’t be my hurdle. It’s WHAT to cook. I am a very picky eater. I don’t eat eggs, many meats, fruit — I could go on. For me, finding things that I can cook and not get tired of, is my hurdle. I made a list of things I need to help me eat better, and things I want to help me eat better. The things I need are the staples to eating better, the things I want are just the extras.


WHAT I NEED

Cleanse — I opted to do the Advocare 10 day cleanse, because I have done it twice before and I actually stuck with it because I saw results so quickly. It’s easy, and the husband just so happens to be a distributor :)

Motivation — This is something I NEED to find. Every single day. If I can’t find it, it’s not going to work. I read once to buy yourself something you want at the very beginning of something you’re doing (a cleanse, new job, new home) and put it away. You can’t use it, wear it or see it until you’ve accomplished what you started. This way, it’s harder knowing that it’s at an arm’s reach, but you will surprise yourself to see just how determined you are to get it.

Soup — Believe it or not, soup can help you slim down. And boy, do I love soup. But make sure not to get the canned kind from the store. It’s loaded with salt and chemicals. Instead, make your own. We will be starting another column on the blog called, “Soup’s On” — so stay tuned for that! You can also follow me on Instagram for more secrets to live longer. Every couple of days, I will be posting a tip from Dr. Mao Shing Ni, a Doctor of Chinese Medicine. He’s got some great tips that I never would have thought of, and eating soup everyday is one of them!


WHAT I WANT

Jack + Ella Meal Planning Notepad — I love to write on pretty things and this will help me meal plan for the week. It’s all about prepping!

Crate & Barrel Square White Plates — There’s something ‘clean’ about eating on white plates. I’ve had the same plates forever and it’s time to change them. I listed this under ‘what I want’ because — clearly I don’t need these, but in my opinion, go big or go home. Everytime you look at your new plates, it will remind you why you got them :)

A Good Water Bottle — We all have a water bottle in our kitchens somewhere, but I’m not talking about just any old one. I’m talking one with snack trays on the bottom that twist and lock into the water bottle. There’s also a little spot for pills so you don’t forget to take them. I forget all the time to take my Vitamin D, but not anymore!
