Do you realize how much power you hold by just being a woman? Everything about you commands a sort of energy; an energy that can nurture or make someone quake in fear. An energy that can steal a room. Maybe you’re sitting there and thinking “NO WAY, not me, I am not the girl who people notice,” and maybe you’re comfortable with that. But like it or not, you do hold that energy inside of you. Being a woman is absolutely magnificent. So often our confidence is repressed in one way or another, maybe by society or maybe by your own family. Today I want to talk about one of my favorite ways to stomp out the insecurities and channel who I truly am inside — my wardrobe. Sounds so simple doesn’t it? Maybe even a little silly, or artificial, to some and that’s okay, but I truly believe it.
Please know I say this part with love. Please do not let yourself get caught up in the hoodie and boot cut jeans phase. How do you feel inside yourself as a woman? Would you say your spirit animal would be a sloth? Comfortable, and sometimes cute, but with no real personality… just like a pull over hoodie. Or would you say you’re are more of a panther or peacock? Do you think you’re portraying that while wearing the same look every single day? No, you are not, and you shouldn’t let yourself be trapped in that cage
First of all, you are a WOMAN, not a girl, so let’s start dressing like one. I feel like a very natural part of being a woman is our sensuality. Society misconstrues this as something that is for men’s eyes, which I am here to tell you that it is not. Sure men may enjoy that about women, of course they do, but it is a power that we hold and should be able to relish in. You can show your sensuality through your wardrobe in so many ways, and no, you do not have to be half naked or a size 6 in order to do that. This is where wardrobe staples come in handy to me. There are a few pieces that I can throw on and immediately feel sexy, one would be a blazer. Blazers brush the line between women and menswear and give you an instantly polished look. You can wear them with ripped jeans or faux leather pants and a cleavage baring top and BAM, you got a powerful bombshell look right in front of you. How many of you own skinny jeans and a flowy neutral top? I’m guessing most of you. Throw on a blazer and a cute pair of heels or flats with that, and you, my friend, have a wardrobe staple; one that exudes your power and flatters your shape. Seriously, what could be better? It’s all about portraying how you feel inside, through your clothing. Even on the days that I don’t feel that delightful fullness that is being a woman, my style helps me get there.
Have you ever heard of the man repeller? If you haven’t please, for the love of God, look it up. So much inspiration you won’t be able to take it. Dress creatively! Wear that jumpsuit that your husband hates! Have you ever experienced how good it feels to have someone walk up to you and say with a rude smirk on their face “Is that all one piece? Like a onesie?” and you flip your hair and reply with “It’s actually called a jumpsuit and I love it. Thank you for noticing, asshole.” (Actually, I don’t say the “asshole” part, but I think it!) It feels amazing! Knowing that you are making someone really wonder, or think, feels good. Because, you, my dear are a mystery as well. Like I said this is about YOU! You feeling good and confident and portraying your fierceness through your personal style.
I realize that today’s blog might have came off a little bit cheeky or rude to some of you but, that is NOT and never will be my intent. These observations are based on my own mistakes and other women coming to me for advice and nothing else. My goal is to make you feel great! I want you to feel that power that you hold inside of you by just being a woman. So many wonderful ladies, young and old, that I know, have lost that. Obviously there are so many other things that come into play with confidence, but your wardrobe is something completely controllable and attainable, that can change your whole disposition.
So if you took nothing else from the blog today, I hope that at least you’re a little more aware of how truly amazing you are, by just being a woman.
